In this 2-day class, you will learn to give a full body massage using the forearms as the primary tool. These techniques can be used for both deep tissue work and light circulatory massage.
This workshop will cover body mechanics, how to use body weight to engage tissue, depth of pressure, speed of strokes and developing sensitivity in the forearms, as well as forearm massage techniques in prone, supine and side-lying position. Simple Qi Gong exercises to encourage better body mechanics will also be taught.
Bring 2 sheets, 1 pillowcase, unscented oil/cream and wear comfortable clothing.
Instructor Bio:
A New York State Licensed Massage Therapist since 2011, Buddy Hammonds is also a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher and an ICF-certified coach. He has navigated every corner of the industry, from private practice and luxury spas to the high-stress, high-volume corporate world of tech giants. He’s also been leading teams and training therapists since 2014.If you’ve read the AMTA’s Massage Therapy Journal or attended the 2022 and 2024 AMTA National Conventions, you’ve likely encountered Buddy’s work as an author and lecturer. He has also been sharing his expertise on forearm massage techniques at the Swedish Institute since 2019.Buddy’s approach to touch and movement is deeply shaped by his years as a dancer and yogi.
