On each course description you will see which organizations’ CEU criteria the course meets, and the number of contact hours it fulfills towards each specified organization’s requirement.
Massage Therapy
Our massage therapy Continuing Education classes are accepted for Continuing Education Units (CEUs) by the leading professional organizations. Swedish Institute is approved by both NY State and the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) as a Continuing Education Approved Provider. The American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) also accepts all classes for CEUs. Approved classes are identified at the end of each course description.
What does the New York State Mandatory CE law mean to Licensed Massage Therapists?
In order to renew your registration as a New York State licensed massage therapist, New York State Education law now requires that every massage therapist practicing under his/her New York license is required to complete 36 hours of acceptable formal continuing education during each three-year registration period. To be “acceptable,” the courses must be (1) administered by a provider approved by the State Education Department, and (2) in an approved subject matter. Click the link below to learn more.

Acupuncture
The field’s leading national certification organization, the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), has approved the Swedish Institute as a provider for continuing education. These approved classes are identified at the end of each course description.
What does the NCCAOM PDA requirement mean to Licensed Acupuncturists?
The NCCAOM PDA program is designed to ensure that NCCAOM Diplomates are participating in quality education programs that maintain their core competencies and provide ongoing professional development.
Diplomates who recertify every four years are considered to be in active status. Recertification is achieved through a program of Professional Development Activities – a process of continuing education and professional enhancements, for which a Diplomate acquires 60 PDA points during the four-year recertification cycle.
The Required PDA points may be divided into two sections:
Section 1: Core Competence, Knowledge and Skills (Minimum of 30 points required, may comprise all 60 points required for recertification).
Section 2: Professional Enhancements Summary (These optional ways to earn PDA’s may not total more than 30 of the 60 points required).
